Lightening and thunder????
so I don't see this topic...

I've just started a new farm and I'm have alot of trouble with thunderstorms. my plants keep getting hit and today while I was walking the ground infront of me got struck and it actually removed the path way (I have wooden pathways in my farm) and threw it back at me X________x

as cool as that sounds I wasn't happy to see that my ancient plant got struck by it in the morning. I have a lightening rod in the back of the house but it did nothing! will moving it near the plants help? it says nothing about range (like the scarecrow)

It's totally random, you just have bad luck :C And Lightning Rod don't stop Lightning from hitting your crops.

When you watch the lightning rod after the thunderstorm, you notice it moving. This means (as for other devices like the furnace or whatever you've got), that it's processing something (in this case the lightning). After a while this produces a battery, which can be sold or used for some fancy stuff.

well you I get battries from it. that's not the issue though.

guess this save is just unlucky, in my previous run I rarely got hit by it. -______-

I have one lightning rod pretty close to all of my crops, and its always moving like it got struck.
My crops never get hit, like ever.
I have a bunch of rarecrows around, too. Im not sure if that makes any difference, though.

That's not the problem.

They're actually right, thats the purpose of the lightning rod. Aside from the battery packs.
Though, Pyro's responses are always rude.

ignore them, all their posts are like that.

well on the wiki it says the rods are "supposed" to prevent one lightening strike so maybe I should just make more of them. during my first run I ended up with three rods and I think my crops got hit.... maybe once? this run I get at least 3 hits per storm which annoyed me until one hit killed my ancient fruit stem :x

you know how hard they are to find and grow.... and I'm in year one!!!!!

Get a greenhouse and plant it there. Meanwhile (year 6) I have 4 rows (4*12) ancient plants and drown in ancient seeds, as I get them from time to time out of my 10 seedmakers. I use those a lot, nearly buy no longer seeds from Pierre at all.

If a rod is already pulsating, it means it has been hit. It will not be hit again, that day. You need more than one rod. You need enough so that you have one rod for each lightning strike that a storm puts out. I have 4 right now, but want to add more.
Multiple rods will help. I haven't had any issues with lightning since I got about 20 rods all bunched around the shipping container.

thats alot!

I'm in fall at the moment and even with 4 rods five of my plants get hit in the last storm -____-

this save is unlucky I swear....

Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like location helped. I had about 20 focused in a corner of the farm, and still had the occasional strike in the outlying areas, so I scattered them more evenly around the area. Haven't had a strike on anything since.

...of course, could be coincidence.

I have four all located behind the shipping crate. I figured that since it's winter I'd have more free time to mine and so have the ing. to make more. will see if distributing them helps but I swear it's this save. my previous play through I didn't even think twice about the thunderstorms :(
