Left clicking on mouse is buggy.
I have noticed a lot of hiccups with left clicking in this game:

Tools- Sometimes I click a single time and it repeats the action like I'm holding it down for two or three actions, or it will make my character look in a different direction and do the action.

Fishing- So many problems happen with this, I will hold down and release my mouse to cast and it acts like I have not; then suddenly casts it on its own will. When I get a bite it will do the same thing when I click to hook the fish. Sometimes when I'm reeling in a fish suddenly its acting like I'm holding down the click when I'm not.

(I just got this mouse a few weeks ago and the clicking issue only happens in this game.)

You could try a different mouse, just to make sure. Also, check to see if the mouse has its drivers updated.

Weird, I've never had these issues with my mouse.

Don't spam Left-Click, take it slowly.

Else go to your control panel and adjust the mouse sensitivity settings for clicking.

I'm in fullscreen, I have reinstalled the game, updated my mouse drivers, changed my sensitivity on my mouse for clicking from all suggestions I've been given and this still occurs. (do not have another mouse to try unfortunately)

Also I am not left click spamming while fishing, I will get a bite and indentify its a lesser fish from its movements, but it just barely gets away from the bar so I click a single time and the fishing bar skyrockets to the top and I have to click a few times just to make it stop acting like I'm holding down left click.

Like I said this only happens in Stardew Valley, I'm wondering why I'm the only one that experiences it.

I like to use my Xbox controler when I play. There are still a few things I use the mouse for (Like shoping, it is a bit better for that). I think play station controlers work too. Maybe you would like the controler better.

Speaking of controllers, if you have one plugged in, try unplugging it, see if that helps.

I do not own a usb controller.

Just trying to fish a moment ago I held down to cast then released my mouse click only for it to not cast, I completely removed my hand from my mouse and and watched the casting power bar go up and down for a full five seconds before my character suddenly casted without my control. (This is making fishing frustrating ><)

I know this thread is old, but I'm having the same problem re: mouse clicking. I'm wondering if it's related to my new laptop, though; never had this problem with my previous computer. I'd also like to blame Windows 10, which I hate, but I have no evidence for that. ^^;;

Drivers are up to date, have already messed with mouse sensitivity, no dice. Going to try an external mouse to see if that helps, but if anyone has any other suggestions, that would be great. :)
