Tried to mod stardew broke it
I was trying to be cool and watch how to mod stardew on YouTube couldn't figure it out. Made a copy of my file in the games save file then deleted copy not original file. Removed all mod stuff but it's all in recycling. Now the game keeps crashing and won't load. HELP PLEASE?

Probably in your best interest to just do a clean install. Completely delete Stardew and start over fresh. Make a copy of your saved files, if they are salvagable.

Alternatively, if you're going to clean install, you could wait until the update so there's more content available!

However, I have no idea how close that would be. :(

I am in process of doing this hopefully they work. Was on summer year 3 had alot of time put into this :(

Just reinstalled the game but it is still acting like it did before i dont know what to do -_-

Have you tried starting a new game?

Just to check and see if it is the game, or your saves?

You might still be able to save them.

Fingers crossed.

To further explain, basically there is a copy in your saves with an "old" prefix, which is a day behind your current save. Maybe if you backtrack to this older day, the corruption to your saves from your mods may not have happened yet.

Well if you have the save files backed up you can always replace the current saves with the ones that are labled as _old. All you have to do is delete the files that don't have _old at the end. After that rename the left over files by just removing the _old and you should be able to load the save. Sure it will be a roll back by a few in game days but at least you could still play with more progress complete.

Edit: XD Looks like ColdBlade beat me to what I was saying.

It had those files but since i copied my original and then obviousy deleted it insted of the copy it wont work fml. I just got the galaxy sword, I was 4 items from completeing the community center, I was half way to getting all 10 hearts on everyone and marrying sam </3 T-T

So you can't find the files in the folder labled as old? :( Or it just didn't work?

Either way...don't lose hope! Now you are an experienced farmer. Tackle the challenge again, but take a different route. Take heart that multiplayer comes soon which will be a whole different ball game. I suspect we won't be able to use old saves to play multiplayer anyway, but I could be wrong.

Alternatively, keep learning more about mods! You've got nothing to lose now right? With a little reading, you can make back all that lost progress. I mean, you can't get back to the point in time you lost, but you could start over with extra cash, some items, some upgrades, new game+ that! You've earned it.

Yeah basically i have to figure mods out now because I wont put another 165 hours of gaming in without them

What exactly did you mod? Normal mods dont even TOUCH the savegame, so it cant broke. Did you edit it? Use mods that add items to the game?

In the official forums you can upload your savegame and, i think it was the developer, fixed it. But im not sure.

What did you do for Mods. With SMAPI, just delete the Mod folder your remove all mods.

How, if you replaced files, you may have to delete from the game from Steam, remove the folder completely, and reinstall.
