Easter Eggs and References

Anyone else think that an old man giving u a sword in a cave and saying "its dangerous. here take this" is possibly a reference to something? eh? eeeehhhhh??????

Iv discovered what appear to be references and easter eggs thoughout this game. Like Marlon and the sword thing. Here are my discoveries and i hope u can post your own discoveries.

Old man in cave giving u sword : In the first Legend of Zelda for the NES you spawn in the middle of the map with 3 exits and a cave. If you go into the cave an old man gives u a sword and says "Its dangerous to go alone. Take this"

Rarecrow 1 from the Stardew Valley Fair appears to be a reference to Turnip Head from Hayao Miyazaki's Howls Moving Castle

Again with Hayao Miyazaki's work it appears that the Dust Sprite form floors 40-80 in the normal mines are a reference to the Soot Sprites in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. In Spirited Away the Soot Sprites carry coal and in Stardew Valley our Dust Sprites drop coal if killed.

Tell me about your discoveries of Easter Eggs and References! Id love to hear them.

The sound of the sprouts growing is My Neighbor Totoro in the tree growing scene is exactly the same as the sound when harvesting crops in Stardew. A lot of the music is also pretty similar.

I think the one creature in the cave with the green glowing eyes might be a reference to Donkey Kong Country 1 I think. Or maybe he just looks similar to those mine creatures from DKC.

I kinda figured the "its dangerous. here take this" was going to be something along the lines of zelda-esqe, but I don't remember anything related in dialogue only music and sounds for Zelda.

I'd love to know if there's any Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing easter eggs though. (Besides the fact that the entire game is one.)

Thought I might Necro this thread, because I just talked to Evelyn, and she says 'Call me Granny,' which is something said in both Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away (and probably a lot of other movies, but it made me think of Miyazaki).

Nice! Thats a good find. And a curious one. Miytazakis films have fuekld so many easter eggs and references throught so many diffreent games and movies. His work is so influentail.
