I don't always want to be planting continous items though, I'm still doing quests so i like to have at least some of each crop each season incase a board quest comes up for it. I can do that with a majority of my land, but for that portion, i cannot, Plus spring only has a few plants that stay, unlike summer or fall.
ETA: And for those who go to suggest sprinklers, i do have them, having to retill the land completely makes me have to rewater the whole lot by myself day 1.
That being said, I also petition that you can buy farm equipment. Start with a plow you can hook up to your horse or an ox. Then maybe you find out that grandpa left you his old tractor which he drove and it broke down somewhere outside your farm. After finding its X pieces and assembling it, you can use it and upgrade it to plow faster, and maybe add attachments, like something that plows multiple rows, can harvest and store temporarily, and water/pesticide/fertilize your crops/land.
Hell yeah, give me motorized farm equipment and let me go Amish if I want! =D
Once again, a trick you can use between Summer and Fall:

(I'm shameless, but helpful.)
Plus, it'd be cool if you could give hayrides for the town in a cutscene. Gives some hearts if you're missing, especially if you don't interact with the kids - I know I don't. Maybe you can see your own kids on the hayride after some time as well.
Speaking of which, where's our butter churner?

Wheat is good for summer and fall as they only cost 10g each.
winter forage seeds are good for spring prep since it's basicly free and you'll have plenty before the end of the season.
Garlic or parsnips or forage seeds would do for summer prep. Even tulips would do
Think of it this way.
What would you rather spend? Time or money?
If your answer is money then this is your answer. If your answer is time then just don't till for the next season till the next season comes along to avoid wasted effort.
Another thing you can do is to place a floor tiles under your sprinklers so that you don't have to move them and that the changing of the season doesn't affect them.
