Yeah that encounter really makes me hope he realizes not everyone is as judgmental as he thinks. :)
This is what Linus reminds me of. He's not only homeless but facing alienation from some trauma he can't endure. Maybe the townspeople don't like him, or maybe it's the other way around and he's forcing himself into solitude because they're too different and indifferent.

He obviously knows how to handle himself.
But if you talk to him during fairs, he usually stays out of the way because he says he doens't want to frighten anybody. He thinks that most of the people in the town despise him. He also has no money so I don't think he has much choice but to live in a tent..
