More worms (tillable ground) in rain/winter?

I am trying to find the last of my artifacts. I have about 10 to go and they are all from worms - I am in winter year 2 and I have everything I can have from mines/fishing. I think there are more worms during winter, but I also heard that rain causes more worms to spawn. Do you know if I will get even more worm spawns if I use a rain totem during winter?

Theres way more worm/stalks during winter, but thats because a lot of them are now winter wild crops.

That explains why there are so many dig spots at the start of winter but becomes less as winter goes on.

Does this mean that the chances of digging up artifacts are the same in all seasons?

Does rain effect artifact chances, or only chances at foragables?
