So why is the Spa not available until the first week of Summer?

I'm pretty sure the Spa would make the first Spring a lot easier, especially in the first week, rather than having to rely on Spring Onions and Salmonberries for that early game energy. But perhaps that may have been the point, to make it more of a struggle to do anything in the early game.

Still think the Spa would have seen a lot more use if it weren't locked behind those rocks...

Alas, I'm a filthy console peasant (for this game). I wonder what a workshop on a console would look like.

I don't doubt there's a mod that unlocks the spa immediately on the Steam version of the game.

the idea is you are new to farming and mining, in a new area, and you have to learn and struggle a little to survive. The game is not meant to be super easy right from the start. And because of the landslide that happened before you arrived in town, you can't even get to the spa.
Even with the mods mentioned above, you don't have a bathroom in your house until you upgrade it, so thats not right at the beginning either. Accept and work thru the challenges.

Honestly, I think it might be deliberate to try and push you to branch out--it's very difficult to do much farming or clearing of debris for a while, so once tired, go explore, learn the layout, meet the townsfolk, etc. For veteran players, maybe that's not ideal, but for new players, I think it's good game design, as you aren't FORCED to do so, but are encouraged to.

I'm quite aware of how this makes sense from a storytelling and gameplay balance perspective. But I can only muse how much of a difference it could make if the spa were available right there and then.

All they are doing is giving a game suggestion that even if implemented, wouldn't impact the game much.

It's basically the same as people who have late-game convenience mods that make stuff super easy - just at a different part of the game and much less influential.


As for the person who posted this thread, join another account by making a cabin and logging on, in multiplayer staying in your bed has the same effect as the spa, you could also play with the other account while you heal up on energy to make the most of your time.
