Just some things you can do in winter
So, we all know in winter no crops grow so there goes most of your money supply. and what I normally do is see if its a super lucky day to go mining apart from that I don't really do anything else in winter, so I came up with a small list of thing you can do in winter :3

1. Decorate your farm, It gives you something to do and it is probably best to do it in winter, cuz if ya do it in the middle of another season it is quite time consuming and you might forget to water your crops.

2. Upgrade your hoe (you don't have to upgrade it) and head down to the beach and hoe away, you will get a decent amount of cash from frozen yams and winter roots.

3. Plan ahead for birthdays, now if you want you could make a chests for birthday items just so you dont have to rush around and look for some random thing. (You could try to get their fav items)

4. Fish and Mine. If ya want you could fish or mine all day either way you will probably get a decent amount of money from either.

So thats all I could think of if you have any other ideas please tell me c:

( By plan ahead for birthdays you could plan for the birthdays in winter only, or plan for EVERYONE'S birthday.)

I'm super looking forward to my first Winter, which is only a few days away in game. I very much need to concentrate on the mines for a while and if I get bored I'll switch to my neglected fishing.

I'll be happy to be more limited in what I can do for a little while, but I'm sure by the time Winter is over I'll be happy to get back to the normal farming too :D Especially since it will be my 2nd year and I know so much more about what I'm doing and want / need to do now.

Anyway I have my cows I need to take care of even though it's extremely brief, I considered it and kept with just my cows for now. I didn't add chickens for the Winter, I'll add the coop this next year instead.

In my first year I had way too many farm animals to feed and I ran out of hay quickly :P In your second year see if you can get the greenhouse it is a huge help cuz crops inside of it keep growing no matter what the season is, so you get to farm in winter :D

I find the best spots to fish are right in front of Willy's shop at the beach or the mountain lake directly in front of the mine enterence. You always get gold star fish in those areas.

It's my first winter now, my progress kinda slow, only managed to upgrade to steel pickaxe due to low in cash, reached 105level of mine, but still very relaxing because i don't need to water any crops lol

I have tons of preserve jars and kegs and have been saving up my crops from spring, summer, and fall, including that which I have foraged. I have almost 100 blackberries. That's what I will be doing in my 2nd winter, making booze and jam! oh yeah. (have been doing it all autumn, but there is so much stock I hope to finish in winter)

^ same. i could just process them all as they come, but that seems like an inefficient usage of resouces by overbuilding preservers and kegs. plus that guarantees continual income instead of a windfall; its all the same in the end but you cant blow it if you don't have it yet.
i also plant trees pretty heavily in the summer so there are plenty of trees to cut down over the winter.

If I had more kegs and preserve jars I would do the same, also the crystalarium helps a bit depending what gem you put in it, I just shoved in a amethyst that was stupid of me cuz now I cant put a diamond in it, I plan on crafting another crystalarium tho.
