chickens no longer laying eggs?
I moved my chickens from one coop to the next around 5 days ago and they no longer lay eggs. is this a bug? do they take time to settle in? what's happening?

As far as I'm aware as long as you feed them, adult chickens should lay every day if fed. The Wiki doesn't say there's a settling in period.
Try verifying your local files before you do anything else.

The smaller coops require manual feeding since they do not automatically distribute hay.

You can click animals and check their mood and if something is wrong.

I've never tried it to verify, but I believe ignoring your animals (i.e. not giving them a pat as you walk by in the case of chickens, both milking but not patting cows and others in the main barn) makes them lonely/angry/annoyed/etc, which may lead to them not laying eggs every day. They need love and affection, too, it seems.

Needy creatures in Stardew Valley, aye, both animal and human variety.

As long as they are getting fed the night before they should be laying eggs. Chickens do not produce eggs until they are 'adults,' about three days after purchase. If you are sure they are being fed and they are adults yet they still don't produce eggs, it must be a glitch.

They need to be fed AND pet to produce

Feed daily + Daily petting

The requirements for laying eggs
1. Feed your chickens hay every day from the silo
2. The chickens must be adult,
If those don't work, I'm unsure what will, Although ducks lay every other day.

Daily petting is not needed. Petting is only required to get higher tier products from your animals. As long as they are fed they will produce.

Maybe you have the automatic collector thing hidden somewhere

I have an automatic collector in the coop as well as a heater (even though its spring) its a deluxe coop so they are fed automatically, but there is plenty of grass outside so they normally eat that and I pet them every day.

Yes, I know. I was interested in how many eggs had built up over the period we were trying to work out why they weren't laying. Just being full of human curiosity, you know?

LOL, that why I never need to feed my animals manually anymore, hahah. I was a bit confused by the fact the feeding trough always was 'untouched'. Joke's on me. :D:
