Tapper doesn't work.

I might be doing something wrong, but my tapper doesn't work. Can someone explain the steps to me.

What exactly makes you think it doesn't work? You find tree, place tapper on tree, wait 4-8 days, and collect the syrup.

It does take a long time for some of them! I tend to forget they're even there sometimes.

lol yeah, the trees tend to cover the little message saying it's ready and I forgot about them too before I made a dedicated tapper farm. Here's a tip, chop down the tree (not the stump) and place the tapper on the stump. It still works normally, even though it's just a stump.

I just make sure to plant the tappered trees closer to places I walk every day so I'll see them. And I make sure nothing's in front of those trees. And still it catches me off guard when the message pops up on one of those trees. :)

For me, I can't even place it, it may be bc it's winter but the wiki says it's ok, how do I place it?

Winter makes no difference. Put it in your hand and place it on the tree.
