Abigail wants me in her room at 8pm?, but how do i get in if the store is closed?

How exactly does this work?

I think the building itself gets locked at 9PM, the store closes at 6PM, so once 8PM hits just enter and re enter till the event gets trigerred.

Step one.- Stay inside her room till 8pm.
Step two.- Exit the store and enter it again (don't question the logic and enter).
Step three.- ???
Step four.- Profit.

Pierres shop will close down, but the house stays unlocked for a few more hours as it doubles as the family residence and community shrine.

This makes it easier for you to track down Pierre, Caroline, and Abigail, as well as the NPCs that visit the shrine on Sundays.

I put off going to her room for literal seasons after I got the letter, and apparently she waited for me! If it's Wednesday, you can go the next day and it should still work.
