Help with Game Not Starting
I tried everything I could find on the game not starting/launch issue but I have had no luck. When I tried to launch it from the folder, still no luck. What in the world is this? I've never heard of it.

I am stating what I did see in my folder and what the information on the file said. If I knew how to put a screenshot here, I would put it in to show what I mean.

Hrm, I looked it up and it seems to be a method of installing from a server easily on microsoft things, makes sense. However, I can't seem to find it in my files, did you download Stardew from Steam?

Regardless, from the errors, it seems you are missing a chicken icon of some sort, and that is what is causing the error. Try verifying cache and then running that install program again.

Yes, I did download it from Steam, I verified the cache twice, uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Same result.

And the Errorlog folder in the roaming folders for Stardew Valley shows this DESPITE the XNA being up to date:

Message: Could not load type 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics.IGraphicsDeviceService' from assembly 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=842cf8be1de50553'.

I've had problems running Stardew Valley (and Terraria) since moving to Windows 10. I finally got both games running again after copying the "..\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\_CommonRedist\XNA\4.0\xnafx40_redist.msi" to a temporary folder "C:\Temp", launching XNA from there and then the games ran properly. It looks as though the default folder under Steam is affected by Windows 10 permissions/UAC issues.

A possible solution I've stumbled upon is updating/installing directx9 libraries, or something like that. Your problem is unique, though, I have no idea if that will work.

When you launched XNA, did you hit repair?

Yes, but still nothing

Have you tried installing .net framework 4.0?
dino_inc Dec 16, 2016 @ 9:09am
Here's my fix list, because I hadn't made it back when this thread was posted. (Be sure to test the game between each step):
  1. Verify the cache.
  2. Plug in headphones.
  3. Ensure Steam is not running in compatibility mode.
  4. Delete startup_preferences.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Delete %appdata%/Stardew Valley. It is a hidden file, so search for it directly through windows search. (Backup your saves, beforehand)
  7. Disable Antivirus
  8. Run as administrator
  9. Reinstall the game.
  10. Reinstall XNA.
  11. Reinstall directx9.
  12. Update graphics drivers and sound card drivers.
If all of these don't work, post your error log from %appdata%/Stardew Valley/Errorlogs, it will help me to pinpoint the problem. (I would really like to see this, if it doesn't get fixed.)

This is the error its complaing about, i would recomend Reinstalling .NET 4.0 and i would also make sure that the game and install both would be installed and run with Administration Mode.
