Is it worth it to plant strawberries in year 1, or better to just save them for year 2?
About to try my second game of Stardew Valley. I remember mid-spring you can buy strawberry seeds, but you only can harvest them one or two times in year 1. However, they make a ton of money even in those 1-2 times.

I'm thinking getting that bonus money early on is probably more important than waiting to plant in year two, where you seem to rake in money so much more faster than you can spend it no matter what kind of crops you focus on since your farm can be pretty self-sufficient through sprinklers and whatnot.

Just wondering what more veteran players think about this.

I'd say save it for year 2, that way you can buy even more strawberry seeds during the festival and thus plant more.

Well, I remember in my first game, I had so much gold in year 2 I could buy endless strawberry seeds pretty much regardless, even without having a green house during winter. I worked really hard in autumn year 1 to make a killing from cranberries that it basically set me for life.

Well, do what you planned then I guess. I didn't really aim much for money in my first game, so I waited to plant the strawberry seeds I had.

I always plant mine the day after the fair- you can harvest them a few times before the end of the season and before too long, you have the seed maker-

Plant, harvest, store, craft a seedmaker, mulch the berries, bam- you have 3-5 times more seeds than you could originally afford which you can plant in year 2 right away.

That seems like a really smart idea.

Seed maker all the way. The 9 seeds i saved from the fair didnt go very far in year 2. On my second play through i had 80 strawberry seeds ready for year 2 by storing and getting the seed maker from the community center
