fishing quest not completed?

Hi.

I got a quest to fish three Smallmouth Bass. I did so and had one still in a chest I think. But the quest is not completed. I tried to put them into the chest and take them back to trigger the quest or something, but it still doesn't work. Two of the fish are regular, and one has a silver star.

Any advice?

Go give em' to Willy, or the quest giver.
Dunno if stars affect it.

The quest says "talk to willy". I talked to him, but he just offered me the usual stuff to buy or sell. I guess that if I give him two gifts, he'll just take them.

Have you tried giving him the fish you caught?

Ah, it worked when I met him outside his hut. I guess while he is in "shop mode" he just wants to do that.

I realise I'm late to the thread, but I just wanted to give you and future players a trick. When you talk to a person who is working by walking up to the counter, it will automatically assume that you are trying to access the store they work for. If you can go behind the counter (i.e. Pierre's, the blacksmith, the saloon, etc.) you will be able to talk to the individual. This will allow you to finish quests and give gifts even though they're working :)
