I don't understand how to fish... Help Please?
Could someone answer a couple of questions?

1. When you cast the reel, does distance matter (a click vs a hold and throw)? If so, what does it affect?

2. When you have a hit, what are you supposed to do with the slider? Do you keep it level with the fish? Above it? Below it? Are you supposed to keep it near the bar level on the right? The mechanics are rather poorly explained.

3. Assuming I keep the slider in the correct place, what should I see happening? Should the fish be rising if I get more successful? Or is that just an adjustment to make the challenge harder with the slider?

Thank you in advance. I did search for these questions, but couldn't find the answers, only guides on where the fish were, or how to get a hit, which I already knew.

1. well for the first one, the farther out you cast, the better quality the fish which means that they would be worth more money.

2. you have to keep the slider on the fish in order to catch it. while you have the slider on the fish, the meter to the left (i believe.) shoud start to fill up.

This is correct. My reccomendation is just to keep practicing and eventually you will get better.

The quality of fish rises the farther the line is cast from any walk-able area. Also, darker parts of the water or water with a log in it (the Mines Lake, Cindersap forest lake) tend to produce quality fish. Hitting the bubbling fish schools improves chances of getting a fish hit instead of junk.

You need to try and keep the fish inside the slider. If a treasure box appears, you can try to claim it by moving it into the slider, before catching the fish.

How the fish moves depends on the kind of fish. Some move quickly, some are easy to catch. Some tend to swim high, some low, some are jumpy. When the fish is inside the slider, the catching meter begins to fill up. When it's full, you catch the fish. If it empties (because the fish is outside of the slider for too long), you fail.

Fishing skill and equipment can affect the size of the slider, making fishing easier.

The instructions given by the game are something along the lines of "keep the bar below the fish" (or under? something like that), that doesn't immediately read as "cover the fish with the bar" to me (which seems like a closer description of what you do to my mind), or apparently to the OP. On my first few attempts I was trying to keep the fish above the bar and nudge it higher, i.e. when the fish moved up I thought I was winning because it was getting closer to the top, which might represent the surface, and that the game was to successfully guide or chase it up there without it slipping under you.

I suspect some of how fast you get it comes from how you read the initial instruction and how your first fish behaves, if it spends a few seconds at the bottom where you both start you may notice the filling bar and put things together, but if it darts off early on then you don't get that kind of contextual clue, unless you happen to end up doing it right by accident or through trial and error.

you wont be able to get the rod that allows you to use tackle until you level up your fishing a bit... so just work on leveling your fishing and eat some food that raises your fishing skill while you fish it helps quite a bit...

fishing starts off a bit difficult at first but after you get the feel for it it becomes really really easy while still maintaining challenge with the legendary fish adn a few of the others that can prove to be rather difficult to catch... just rmemeber though it is about controlling the click and trying to be where the fish is going to be if it is one that moves alot you dont need ot be on it 100% of the time just find the most efficient way to keep it in the bar long enough to catch it... and try not to hold the mouse button down and try not to let the bar drop really fast if the bar starts bouncing it is really hard to get it under control again...
