Silver and Gold star items are of higher quality than normal. They also sell for more gold than a regular item. Bait requires an upgraded fishing pole and you right click bait and then right click the fishing pole to put it "in" the pole.

Silver fish are worth double than normal and gold fish are worth triple than normal

No star means normal quality, silver star means better quality, gold star is the best quality and if you sell it you will get the most amount of money for it.
