Best Pickle?
I'm just curious, what are the top three vegitables for pickling?
I assume pumpkins are in there, but what else?

Thanks in advance.

Thankee.

One more question:
Does the quality of the crop affect the sell value of jellies, pickles and wines?

i.e.: I put three melons in the tanks -one no star, one silver and one gold...
will they all sell the same or a varying rates?

I think they sell for the same price, haven't played for a while so I don't exactly remember.

They will all sell for the same price. That is correct. Star quality does NOT matter when using the preserve jars or the kegs.

If you're planning to make pickles, it's better to use speed-gro fertiliser over the quality fertiliser; since the benefits of quality fertiliser don't apply to pickles (plus the extra growth speed helps you get more of the crop grown in-season, meaning more produce stored up for pickling).

I personally prefer to make jelly and wine from cranberries, and with only a couple of cranberry vines each fall I manage to haul in enough non-starred cranberries to keep my preserving jars AND kegs filled all year round; and then I sell any starred produce for instant turnover. Granted I'm not mass-producing with dozens of jars/kegs; but even if I was then I'd only need to plant a few more cranberry plants each fall in order to supply 4-5 times as many kegs and jars.

I'd suggest looking into either pickled hot peppers, corn or eggplants -- since the vines keep producing after the first harvest, your investment in seeds is dramatically lower. The nice thing about corn is that you get double the producing life from it, and you can turn excess into oil for some cooking recipes.

I made a guide all about how to maximize profit from kegs and jars. It's in the guides section if you wanted to check it out. I show how much money you make from all of the different crops (divided into fruits and veggies) from jars and kegs.

If you arent using any mods then just use fruit or vegetables that have the most value cause when you pickle them they will double in value and get some more bonus sell cost as well but i dont remember how much, though. Some say to save your most valuable crops for kegs and i kinda agree but kegs are much more expensive now then pickle jars and harder to craft so i would only save crops that have about 500 or more value. And ofc using fertilizer doesnt matter for growing crops if you will only use them for preserve jars cause they dont really increase value of gold or silver crops unless you use some mods that change this. I recommend using speed-gro if you have to materials to make it or gold to buy it or just dont use anything at all and just grow them on plain ground. Btw, if you are unsure about what crops give the most money each season them just check some guides or the wiki.
