Fall Fair
The fall fair is coming up in a week and I have a basic understanding on how to do well. Be diverse and more expensive and quality is better up to a point. So you should have 6 different types of things but there are 9 slots. Once you get the 6 different things can you have exact duplicates. Like can I have 5 different categories and then 4 gold star melons to finish it off.

I used 6 basic Pumpkins, a blackberry, a flower, and an egg. It was good enough for second place and then I just did the spin gamble thingy. I ended up getting everything including the stardrop.

I will get more points if I know I can use 4 gold star melons no penalty. I read the whole wiki on the fair, I am just not sure whether the same exact thing gives you a penalty.

You are worrying way too much about it. If you get 2nd it's not that big a deal.

Now I'm just plain curious. Is this the internet way of saying I don't know? I should have just said I used 4 gold star melons and some other stuff and got the highest possible score and waited for someone to correct me if i was wrong.

You'll be fine. I used four gold tier starfruits, so that I could have star shapes in my four corners of the display. After the six different varieties, you can use as many duplicates as you want, category and item.

Clarification: I did get first place, and the max amount of points possible. No penalities. Pure winning.

Thank you so much, I was trying to do the best I could at the fair with what I had and it turned out 4 gold star melons then variety is my best bet

Things that are worth more also give you more points. So 4 gold star melons would be less points than four gold star starfruits. I believe the wiki has a point system broken down you could probably calculate how many points you would get if you're worried.
