Interesting uses for stone and fiber.
Instead of putting all of your stone and fiber into the box or letting it sit in your chests doing nothing, making tea plants and selling the plants themselves generates a nice profit and provides much more money than any of its componants would by themselves.

well fiber is getting more important with the last patches for recipes and machines, so wasting it for pure profit dont sounds good, looking at how much you can gather and how much you need for some items...

There are already enough ways to earn tons of money in no time. So i wouldn't waste stone for more even money, if i could build stairs with them instead.

But why use stone for stairs when you can put jade in a crystalarium and buy staircases from the desert trader.

Its obviously not advised for late-game, or if you actually need the fiber for something else. But its an interesting way to make normally useless early game items worth a fair bit of money that you could use to expand early on.

It depends if you use kegs or jars or both ... I usually build a large number of jars and each costs 40 stone + 130 wood (80 wood = 8 coal). So I am constantly low on wood and stone and even do the big stones in the mines/caves to not have to buy stone from Robin.

before 1.4 staircases could not be stacked. or purchased.

this addition does make robin's unreasonable price increases in year two more palettable.

game should present the price hike better though. like state in year one you are getting tax breaks on purchases to expand your farm or something to explain the lower prices in year one over the rest of the game.

still its incredibly frustrating to have her prices go up 5x over night. because shes the only store in town.

I only bought stone from her finally after I was filthy rich to finish my farm upgrades.

Yknow what I do for wood? Once the railroad opens I forest it up with pines. Makes a pretty decent farm too. I got the tip from someone on these forums and its been really helping my playthrough. ^^

i went through a recent extreme drought of wood making a shed, upgrading it and making all the casks in preparation for winemaking haha - not sure ill ever need more now though! (did pam's house upgrade already)

if you're still going through that phase though, note that tree fertilizer is made from aforementioned fiber and stone to speed up growth loads!

personally i now hang onto all the fiber i can get because my 3-animal coop shreds through their grass for whatever reason. even have grass under iron fences to facilitate regrowth but just doesn't seem enough. so i need to pop in some grass from time to time made from stockpiled fiber

Who has tons of spare stone or fiber? :S All my stone goes towards upgrades for buildings / fish ponds, or for crafting things like preserves jars. All my fiber goes towards warp totems or, more importantly in the early game, wild bait for fishing. I can't imagine anyone who's bothered befriending Caroline typically has problems making money...

I personally did early on, its annoying to make that first 100k before you can start multiplying it like crazy.

I've always got tons of spare stone and wood. I used to have a problem with wood but I learned to replant. Wonder why we're all different?

fiber != wood....
