Can't place the gems in the jungle

Hi, has anyone had this issue? I'm trying to finish the gems quest in the jungle on ginger island and the game doesn't let me place a single gem on the pedestals.
Yes, I get the little plus icon, and I have placed gems before, in other savegames. This time, it just isn't possible... Sad.

i had a little problem like that too, but you have to stand in just the right spot in front of the pedestals.
