Catching slimes non-violently
Is it possible to catch slimes without using violence for the Slime Hutch? I'm trying to get through the game without using any kind of force

Are there more than one possibility to catch those slippery devil?

Purple and red Slime Eggs can be found in treasure rooms in the Skull Cavern.

One Green Slime Egg may be produced daily in a Slimejack Fish Pond when the population of the pond reaches 9.

One Tiger Slime Egg may be produced daily in a Lionfish Fish Pond when the population of the pond reaches 9.

Slime can also be obtained from Slime Balls or purchased from Krobus for 10g on Mondays (up to 50 per Monday).

It may randomly appear in the Traveling Cart for 1,000g.

A Slimejack Fish Pond may also produce 10, 30, or 50 Slime daily when the population reaches 9.

Those are the only non violent ways of getting slimes for the hutch

Don't think of it as violence, think of it as you're giving the slimes a shave and a haircut

There are other ways to obtain slime in the game as CalhounMKZ has already mentioned above. Once you get 100 slime, you can then put them inside a slime egg press to turn them into an egg, which can then be hatched into an actual living slime inside the hutch after a few days. However, you cannot get tiger slime eggs this way.

Once you have at least 5 slimes inside the hutch, they'll produce slime balls which give you even more slime provided you water their troughs daily. As of the 1.5 update, you even can use sprinklers to do this for you! A slime hutch can have up to 20 slimes for up to 4 slime balls a day if all the troughs are watered daily.

Only a minimum of 2 eggs are needed to have 20 slimes inside the hutch as having one male and one female slime will allow them to produce their own babies which will eventually mature like the ones you started with.

If you're thinking of crafting your own slime incubator to use outdoors though, you need to be careful once you end up with at least one male and one female slime in the same area as when left alone for a certain amount of time... :slimehappy:
