Any good mining mods?
I'm relatively new to modding, haven't tried SVE yet, but tried lots of other mods like Automate, Better Dino Ranching, new skills, etc. I've seen a number of mods that improve skills, like crab pot upgrades, worm bin upgrades, cask upgrades... But I haven't seen ANY mods to make mining more fun? I'm wondering if I'm just looking in the wrong places?

Like. I don't want to make mining easier. I don't want a skull cavern elevator or whatever. Something like the Prehistoric and Haunted floors of the mines, are there mods to add more variety like that? To add boss fights to the mines? Or new types of enemies, changing the Mining level up perks, or an entirely new dungeon?

I'm aware that there's a mod called Deep Woods or something similar, that adds a Skull Cavern equivalent for Foraging and gathering wood. And I think that SDV adds a new desert... Dungeon? Wasteland? Those both interest me in the future; is there anything similar in the meantime?

have you tried the Tractor mod.?? You can summon the tractor anywhere, including in the mines, and then you can zip thru the mines collecting ores without taking any damage and wiping out those mobs easily. . As for the Skull elevator, well it simply allows you to start at the last level you went to, and as skull cavern HAS NO BOTTOM, you can go really deep with the help of the tractor. I have been as deep as level 1700 and a previous farm, and on my current farm I am at level 500. The thing about going deeper..... way more ore per level, and more monsters too,, especially once you get past level 300. If you want to fight hard, just get off the tractor for a few minutes --- if you like dying.

AS for SVE, Yes it adds more to lots of things, one there is a whole new west woods with an abandoned farm, and with recent update the secret woods has been made bigger as well . and the Secret woods now has a better entrance to Deep woods if you include that mod. I rarely go into Deep woods any more because West woods has plenty of trees. On and West woods now had an entrance to Secret woods too.
SVE also makes the desert bigger too, and adds another shop there to purchase items. As well you get whole new relations events with the wizard, and his friends, and can get sent to a two new mystery areas to fight across and find a hidden chest with a new weapons.

If you want a whole new area to explore, with more villagers , secrets, mysteries, and quests, the try Ridgeside village. You have to talk to npc's and read notes to solve puzzles, then collect items to open strange portals. I just discovered that a certain item can only be found once a season, but when you give it some one------ something magic happens back on your farm.

As for making mining HARDER, well have you met Mr. Qi yet?? Once you do, he can give you a quest to get to the bottom of the local mine again --- but he turns off the elevator and make the mine more dangerous.(yes new harder monsters) Once your reach the bottom again, you have the choice of setting the mine back to normal mode, or leaving it on hard mode, Qi can offer you that quest repeatedly, turning off the elevator each time. No mods required for this, as its part of the regular game. Note: Radioactive ore is only available when the mine is in hard mode.

There's also the volcano mine on the Ginger island -- have you been there yet??
OH and one tip about the DEEP WOODS if you go there, it is easy to get LOST and you cant find your way back out , so take a warp totem with you to get back home, just in case.

US can be modified in the config file if something bugs you. Use the program Notepad++ for that. Once you have that you can use that for other games that you want to mod. It's free with no bloat or maleware.
