Crash on clicking "Load"
I just bought this game yesterday for my Macbook Pro, and I love it so far. I started world and began to play, and after an hour or so I saved the game (made my character sleep) and went to go eat something. When I came back, I opened the game again and clicked "Load" to continue playing on my world. However, when I clicked "Load," the screen slid to the side, said "Loading" in the bottom-left corner, and then the game closed. There was no crash report, no "The game quit unexpectedly" from Steam, no "The application quit unexpectedly" from my Mac. It just quit. The game synced in Steam, and that was that. I opened it again and tried a second time, and the same thing happened. I tried making a new world and saving it, then loading the new one, but the same thing happened. I tried uninstalling it from Steam, waiting an hour, and reinstalling it and doing everything I did before, but to no avail. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I really want to play this game!

Thanks for any help you can give!

Are you running it an administrator mode? It may not have the proper permissions.

I don't know. How do I check? And does that have anything to do with loading a save in a steam game? I'm not that tech-savvy.

Actually, can you post the crash logs? They're found in ~/.config/StardewValley/ for mac, I believe.

There are no crash logs. I just checked, and the only things in that folder were the Saves folder and a document called "startup_preferences." And, when I click load, the game doesn't crash. It just closes and syncs in Steam. There's no crash report form Steam or my Mac.

Do you have anything plugged into the audio jack. If you don't that may be why. For some reason it makes the game crash. (From your description, it doesnt sound like that is your problem, but best to check)

I just plugged headphones in and tried to load a save, and it did the same thing. Any other ideas anybody?

Are you using any mods?

Nope. No mods.

I tried to edit my first save file because I didn't like the name of my farm. I went to the Saves folder, opened up the folder inside that (which was called my character name followed by a bunch of random numbers) and opened all the documents in it. The documents were textedit files and there were 4 of them: one was called the same thing as the folder, one was called "savegameinfo," and the other two were copies of the first two with "_old" after each one. I opened up all of them, did Ctrl-F to find the farm name, edited the farm name, and saved it. After that, I couldn't load any saves. I uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, and tried making new worlds and loading them, but it still "crashed" (quotations bc there was no report).

That's what probably did it. The question is: how do I fix it?

Try deleting the entire Stardew Valley save repository; you may have corrupted your saves beyond repair. Make a backup beforehand, of course.

So, delete the saves folder? Or the entire Stardew valley folder? Keep in mind that I deleted the save files I edited, then uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

I meant the saves folder, to make sure you deleted it all, but sounds like you already did that and it didn't solve the problem.

Just for good measure, I did it again. I deleted everything in the Stardew Valley folder (which was the saves folder and a document called "startup_preferences" and uninstalled the game. I'm gonna wait a bit then reinstall it. Any other ideas?

I restarted my computer, reinstalled it, restarted my computer again, played for a day (in-game time) and quit the game. I opened it back up, clicked "Load," and the exact same thing happened. What the hell am I supposed to do?!?! I spent $15 on this game and I loved it, and now I can't play it!
