Foraging
Want to try something a bit new, do you think with Botanist always picking up Iridium quality foraging items, it might be somewhat worth it to farm 100% Foraging stuff? Kinda want to play in a woodland map living like some sort of wildman harvesting the random seeds he's scattered in the woods. Akin to Linus but actually owning land.

Would never need fertilizer since all harvests would always be iridium and could use speed/deluxe speed gro to get 4 (Maybe 5?) harvests in a month. I don't think it would be all too bad money-wise.

Botanist does indeed guarantee Iririum Quality Forageables aside from the Blackberries you get from bushes and Salmonberries. So if you wish to grow nothing but forageables, then go ahead! But moneywise, you'd still make more money growing crops than dedicating yourself to noting but Seasonal Forage Seeds

It won't be the best for cash, but it could be a fun rp experience/challenge.
Forest map also have the seasonal forage items.

The Botanist perk also affects things like truffles, and Quartz- anything that spawns on the ground, really. The foraging seeds are really economical and renewable as well- each seasons pick has one that you can chuck into the seed maker, allowing you to sell the rest and still replant.

If you're low on space or want the RP aspects of the wild man, I'd definitely reccommend doing the seasonal seed farming as a supplement (or even a majority) of your crop. Letting your pigs freeroam could be likened to herding wild boars.

Alternatively, if you really want the roleplay aspect of a wild man with intimate knowledge of the lands around you, the Tracker perk would lead you to every forageable on the map, with the tradeoff of less guranteed profit per item.

Another possibility is to combine foraging with the Artisan techniques, and put your machines in the cave and the house. You could treat the house as an abandoned farmhouse, where your character squats and does some crafting on rainy days. It would explain why you never have to pay any kind of upkeep costs, LOL!

If you make the seasonal foraged fruits into wine and/or jelly, you can make a lot of profit. And with blackberries, salmonberries and so on, you'll have an over-abundance of fruit in spring and summer; so it makes sense you'd preserve some for later.

If you make crystal fruit into wine or jelly, you'll have more than enough money to buy anything you're saving up for.

You could be a wildman but don't forget trees, you are still basically foraging off them and they are part of Mother Nature.

So a farm full of fruit trees.... Ohhhh boy imagine the daily profit on that.
Orchards for days.
Thanks guys! I'll start the new farm when I get home from work. :)

On a sidenote it was either this or a Canada farm where it would have been trees, maple trees, wheat, trees, couple things here and there and oh right, trees. But then I noticed there was no plaid shirt so my lumberjack dreams sorta died out. Lol
