The large open plot of land. It's the best for money.

Yeah, the other layouts don't have enough space, early on it won't matter but late game you'll hate yourself for restricting yourself so much.

I am currently playing the Hill-top one and enjoying it very much. The cliff walls makes for nice natural borders between my different designated areas (animals, crops, foraging/trees, crafting area)

I went lazy mode and made strips of 2x15 with paths between em and placed quality sprinklers there.
Quite effective ( with a small waste though ). Be careful with Teller crops, cant walk through em and might block yourself off

I like the wilderness farm, it makes early game a little more difficult.

Same here. It's nice to have borders without having to worry about replacing fences. One thing I don't know yet cause I don't have animals quite yet. Can they cross the bridges?

I went back to the original too. I was hoping the forest one was like the wilderness one but were the lake is was the forest. I was pretty bummed out.

The best one is the one you prefer, really. I personally wasn't using half of the basic layout and I still had too much money for anything. There are other things to consider, though. Things such as building setup (making sure you can put them where it works well for you). Animals, etc...

I like the wilderness farm so far, and I like a challenge. Also, I haven't decided on a building setup. I'll try the other layouts later on

If you want to diversify, or mix up the early/end-game, then the other types would be fun.

For example, I saw people with the riverlands farm, with a barn on one island and a coop on the one next to it. The islands were, like, the perfect size for the animals to not destroy all the grass. But I hate Fishing, so I'd only do it for the looks.

The Fishing one, I enjoy fishing, the design it has is nice and it's enough space for me to put my stuff.

The riverlands farm, and hill-top farm to a lesser extent, look like good places spam crab pots if you want to go for that strategy.

Yes they can.

Actually the only gripe i have with these are the bridges. I wish they were, you know, actual bridges and not just two planks of wood.
