The few times I tried using daggers, it usually missed, and flying enemies were nearly impossible to hit.
I suppose I'll see how they handle and then make my final decision afterwards. But I am eager to see what else is in store for us combat-wise since now all three current weapon classes have a definitive top tier version and are thus now all viable (instead of all of us being shoehorned into Galaxy Swords). New weapon types? Magic? I'm curious to see what the future holds!
I wanted to like daggers in this game as well but like already said you get hit much easier than with the other weapons and miss a lot. Not a big fan of the special either, maybe if it was a spin attack or bonus crit% when using the special or soemthing it would be more useful.
Slingshot + Irridium Ore as ammo is my answer to anything I don't want to fight directly (so, any time I have low health and don't want to risk any more damage). It's an expensive option... unless you have the Statue of Perfection, which I managed to get early on, so Irridium ore is hardly in short supply for me.
It's overkill, but I'm definitely looking forward to having that extra layer of safety nets. I'm not playing Stardew for its combat, after all, and while it was fairly interesting the first time getting down through the mines and skull caves, I'm not really excited to do it all again. Having these new Galaxy weapons to speed up the last (and hardest) part of that will definitely be a plus for me, and it will mean I basically don't have to worry about enemies outside of an intentional Skull Cave run... to me, that's how a game like this should go. Everything is a challenge until you've mastered it, but once you've proven that you've mastered it, you shouldn't have to go through the full grind every time.
Sword- 50,000$
Hammer- 75,000$
And the Dagger blowing them out of the water at 350,000$
