Strange Dolls

For anyone who has found them in the Skull Cave already, have you noticed a pattern with them being found on certain levels at all? I spent a day digging on level 1 and 2 (finally realized you can reset the sand and just keep hoeing up the same square), and I got a few rusty cogs, a rusty spoon, a couple dwarf scrolls, and 2 library books. But so far in the caves, I haven't had luck with either doll.
Do I need to go deeper, do you think?

I've found around 90 artifacts while digging for a yellow Strange Doll solely on floor 95.
4 of those artifacts were the green Strange Doll.

Why yes, I did keep a specific treasure chest solely to document my attempts for that last cave artifact.

The only floors I ever bothered digging on were the frozen floors. (45-55?)

I found lots of cogs and spoons, and a few dwarven computers. I'm PRETTY sure I found a green doll (looks like an alien) on those frozen floors, but I also (think I) found one around the bus stop area.

I've never really looked at the artifact page. The only dolls I've ever found were the green alien and the blue-shirted human doll.

Does the Skull Cave have unique artifacts in the soil? I don't think I've ever once dug in there... only exception would be if a bomb blew it up. >_>

Did you ever find a doll in other levels, or was that mostly where you hung out? I don't particularly feel like crafting a ton of stairs if it might not even help the stats.

update, I surfed around youtube, and there's a player who found both of the strange dolls while repeatedly sifting through level 93 of the regular mine. I'm gonna try that and see if it's any faster.

Can confirm, after a day and a half, and about 400 bombs, I got 2 pink and 1 green strange dolls on level 93 of the mountains mine. That was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Forget the Skull Cavern. :P

Thanks for confirming, I've got one strange doll left to find and I'm sick of the skull cavern!

I got the blue shirted doll in 2 locations - treasure chest and mountain mines. I got the other 2 dolls on level 93 in mountain mines after several attempts.

On floor 51 of regular mine (it's a static floor, with lots of diggy sand) I found 3 of theblue strange doll. I haven't found the green one on that floor, so I think it's further down. I will try your level 93, it sounds great. I've spent nearly all winter trying to get the green doll, the prehistoric rib, and the creature skull, to no avail :( <~ last artifacts I need.

I found an item labeled strange doll on floor 10 of the normal cave and then the screen slowly got a green tint to it its skin was pink with a yellow shirt in the first spring.

New Update info: You can get both strange dolls for free once you unlock the Hidden Notes feature. It tells you a bunch of spots to find treasures and things, and two of them are the two strange dolls. Unfortunately, I found that out AFTER grinding for them again in my new save file.

I've found a lot artifact hunting by way of worms during Winter, mean while still missing a bunch of others.

I also found the strange dolls from information obtained in the secret notes.
