How do I progress??

im like 8 hours into this game and ive literally only done 3 quests and got 1 backpack upgrade. wtf am i supposed to do now? i tried to make money by planting potatoes but they turned into a bunch of leaves recently because apparently it's summer now though it doesnt even warn me or something? help would be appreciated.

You plant plants, get money, go mining, go fishing, talk to villagers, upgrade tools. The plants all die on season change, as you've found out, so make sure their growth time gives them enough to grow completely.

Have you been alive for more than one season? You should know seasons change.
It also says right on the seeds they only grow in spring.

but all the seeds i can buy from pierre's only grow during spring lol
do i need to wait another 3 seasons to make some money again?

Is it still spring and he didn't know about watering them daily?
Also, the seeds say plant in spring, not they only grow in spring, so until you get a letter from Evelyn, saying, hey newbie, your plants might die soon, the game itself didn't tell you about it. It's not their fault.

There's 28 days per season. For every seed, add +1 day. So if it's the 20th, and a seed says it takes 7 days to grow, it'll be done growing on the 28th. The "planting day" is not counted in those 7 days.

There's a calendar right outside Pierre's shop, and the TV tells you "summer is almost here"... :P Make sure you check the TV everyday for recipes and advice. The calender hints for birthdays and events.

There's a bridge at the beach you can repair with 300 wood. Every few days a bunch of coral, sea urchins and whatnot appear that you can sell for 100-1k.

Blueberries are good to grow in summer, and cranberries in fall. For summer, grow at LEAST one melon, as Demetrius will ask you for one eventually. I think George or somebody wants a pepper too. Mayor Lewis and Shane both love peppers if you want to befriend them.

Grow hops! They can be made into beer and the beer can be sold for 250(?) each. The hops themselves regrow everyday, and can be eaten for 45-83 energy. If you plant 10, that's at least 450 energy per day! What I did was ate the silver/gold star hops and used the normal ones for brewing. Once I got a greenhouse, I plant 12 hops in there to grow alongside my berries. Free energy!

yeah, if you have a massive farm with sprinklers that you can't water manually, you have to add one.

Huh. I could've sworn it was always +1. Like I thought I had dead crops that should've been harvestable. Oh well.

Well, it's always a good idea to add a buffer, just in case.

There are days sometimes when my seeds don't sprout right away. But it could be because I plant them right before bed around midnight at times.
