SVE makes changes to a lot of maps, so it's up to you if you really want it. East Scarp and Ridgeside feel much more compact and tend to add new maps instead of doing major changes to the vanilla maps, making them much more compatible with other mods.
If you want to, you can share your smapi log here. Just follow the instructions here: Smapi Log Parser[smapi.io]
I suggest you run a SMAPI PARSE LOG and post the link here, maybe we can tell you what you are missing or need to update. Follow the link given above or just goggle SMAPI PARSE LOG, The instructions on how to use it are on the page that opens, and are simple. Once you save and parse the log, the link to post will be at the top of the page in green box. Just copy and paste the link here. If I can learn it, so can you. I have run the log dozens of times and cleaned up 10,000+ errors.
And yes they do take a while to load and it may look like they are crashing, but it just needs time. It some times up to 5 minutes for my game and farm to load .
It is my hope that people will come this far down and read this comment fully, I further hope that this helps the OP, assuming he/she/they/them has not already figured this information out themselves.

Below is 2 excerpts from the mods FAQ which is also be linked below:
~Is this mod compatible with Stardew Valley Expanded/East Scarp/Free Love/etc?~
"Yes! Ridgeside Village has no known incompatible mods so far. However, this is not to say no issues will arise when mixing and matching mods on an existing save - It just means you will have to manually fix these issues the first time they appear. See our common bugs wiki page for more info."
~Compatibility with Other Mods~
"RSV is pretty much compatible with any mod out there because it barely messes with vanilla content outside of a tiny patch on the Bus Stop and Backwoods maps. However, a few mods modify game mechanics in a way that can sometimes overlap with RSV" - ch20youk

I would highly recommend not only to the OP, but also anyone else who may come across this thread and took the time to read my comment, that they follow the link to the FAQ and read the FAQ, furthermore there is a list of about 12 different mods that RSV creators Rafseazz and mamaesh and the RSV council recommends to be played with Ridgeside Village.
Ultimately modding your game is about enhancing YOUR enjoyment and no one else's. While it is nice to read about others experiences, it is often better to do the due diligence that is required when stepping into the world of modding As a gamer and a modder, that makes us experimental gamers and playing a mod is no different than alpha/beta testing a game which we know is likely to be glitchy and bugged. I find it concerning that so many people felt compelled to post their personal experiences and likely didn't do their own due diligence and follow the troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue they faced, troubleshooting tips that are mentioned on the mod page on Nexus Mods.
I hope this has been helpful. Again I am sorry for necroposting.
