Since SMAPI extracts the executable and libraries (dll files) inside the SDV directory, for your ease, I recommend you to uninstall the game, then, manually clear SDV's directory of any reminding files.
On windows, it's located at steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley, similar location should be for the Mac and Linux.
In the end, install of the game again.

The second way would be to try uninstalling SMAPI using it's install batch file as mentined by @Anna above, I have included a picture of how the setup files should like below,

I suggest you to firstly backup your save files and,
on the steam client, right click on the game, open properties.
  • On the LOCAL FILES tab,
  • select VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES...
  • wait for the process to finish.
In case that didn't help, reinstall the game.

btw: If you start the SMAPI installer you can decide between install and uninstall. It's good to upgrade if needed.

Right-click on Stardew Valley on your Steam library, select "Properties", go to the "Local Files" tab and then click "Verify Integrity of Game Files".

That's only for the SMAPI application. You need to repair your game too.
Like choclce said. With this steam function. Or classic uninstall the game, clear the folder, install again.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Make sure to check the other drives to see if you install Stardew Valley on a different location.
And if you didn't, install the game and follow up with the second way Anna mentioned and I sent a picture of it on the previous post.
