When you get to ten hearts with a character, do their hearts still diminish?

I've been wondering this, since I'm tired of giving gifts over and over again to get a characters hearts back.

For most characters, yes, the only exception is marriage candidates. By default, once you max their hearts they will be fixed just like a normal character. However, if they're married then their friendship will decay with you significantly if you ignore them. But it's not like they're hard to find in the mornings.

No bachelors and bachelorettes hearts locks on 8 and other villagers on 10.

Wait, on the wiki it says the decay stops for villagers once they reach ten hearts- but for marriage candidates their hearts continue to decay. (I think you had it mixed up, or I read it wrong.

When you reach 10 hearts with a non-marriageable villager, they are then permanently fixed at that level.

you can get 10 hearts with all the eligible villagers if you give them a bouquet and do not give anyone a pendant until after you get to ten with all of them.
