>Are the mods worth it?
Absolutely. Go to nexusmods.com. Scroll down the main page of the available games. There are over 1600+ games available. Out of all these games SDV is on place 7 in terms on how much mods it has. Only Bethesda games have more. Witcher 3 is on place 8. That should tell just how much stuff is available. It's like going in a super store and being able to pick a new paint or new tools whenever you want.
Oh it's on Nexus? Nice thanks!
Thanks I found the wiki and got it working with Steam
Any recommended QoL mods? Been a while since I played so I can't remember things that annoyed me lol.
Looking at my mod list, most overhaul the game quite a bit, but there's a couple that are simply QoL that I'd definitely recommend! :
Better Ranching: Very good for when you get animals since it adds a indicator to let you know when they need to be pet
Winter Grass: Allows grass to grow through winter just as it does any other season. Convenient for feeding animals and if you like to decorate your farm with grass
You can also find out what annoys you just by playing a bit and there will *probably* be a mod that changes it you can find just by a quick google search! Have fun!
Many of these mods on my list have config. files. That's where you configurate the mods. It's like the option setting in your games. These can be opened with Notepad++. I and pretty much every modder recommend you to get Notepad++. It's small, safe, practical and free(no bloat). Not every mod that has config options come with a config file. For many of these mods you need to boot up the game first via SMAPI to let these mods generate the config file. Then you can close the game and modify them the way you like it.
A good chunk of mods also made use of the "Generic Mod Config Menu" mod, which allows you to modify your mods via the SDV menu, not the menu while you are currently playing. So I recommend to download it first:
-Generic Mod Config Menu
-LookupAnything
-Data Layers(Don't need mods like show scarecrow range when you have this one installed, super helpful even for people who aren't visually impaired)
-Locked Crab Pots
-ToolBelt
-UI Info Suite2
-NPCMapLocations
-ModUpdateMenu
-Waterproof Items
-Tree Transplant
-StackEverything
-Advanced Save Backup
-SkipIntro
-Automatic Gates
-ShroomSpotter
-SelfService
-WhatAreYouMissing
-SeedBag (costs 30,000g, so it's not a cheat item. Worth it. May as well have been an item that came shipped with the game)
-Combat Controls - Fixed Mouse Click
-PlacementPlus
-AggressiveAcorns (no more accidentally destroying some tree seedlings because you want some fiber or hay)
-LoveOfCooking
-HealthBars
-ToolCharging
-HoldToBreakGeodes
-FlowerColorPicker
-FasterPaths
-FastAnimations (I mainly use this for Clint breaking up the geodes, faster fishing and tree falling animation. Works well with hold to break geodes mod)
-ExtendedMinecart (Can disable the desert if it's too cheaty for you)
-ChestsAnywhere (can disable access to your chest outside of your farm)
-CharacterCustomizationAnywhere
-CalendarAnywhere
-BerrySeasonReminder
-BetterWorkbenches
-BetterRarecrows
-BetterFruitTrees
-BetterCrafting
-BetterChests
-Better Panning
-Automate
-ActivateSprinklers
Yea there were a couple in that last I had to find a more modern version of, but got all of them besides PlacementPlus. It seems to load, but has a ton of red errors in the cmd prompt as I play and move things around. I guess I can just ignore the errors and it hopefully wont corrupt my save or anything?
Still... just because it worked for me doesn't mean it can't mess up your save game.
If you need to check if a mod is working or if it has an unofficial update please use this handy list:
https://smapi.io/mods
You can type in the mod you want to check up in the box abve the list.
I'm not sure how compatible placement plus is with other stuff you have installed. That also could be the reason for the red errors.
Thanks so much for the information and help.
