Buying Starter Tools
I just lost my Watering Can and after researching if I could get it back I found out that there isn't a way to buy or get one back. Do you think that buying starter items should be in the next update?

Before I started researching I thought that maybe I could buy it from Marnie at a low price and, if you already had one Marnie would say that you shouldn't buy one and that she won't sell them. Those are some good ideas for if this goes in the update. So annoyed that we can't get any starter tools back if you loose them by a bug. :steamsad:

how far are you into the game? you could just build sprinklers if you can but i don't know how to fix it.

You'll get a new watering can in the mail the next day if you lose the tools through any conventional way (e.g. passing out from exhaustion or losing it in the mines); although if you just "deleted" the item then the game may not detect that you lost it.

If the game doesn't detect that you don't have it, you'll have to edit your save to give yourself a new one. The benefit of that option is that you'll be able to give yourself the same level of tool as what you already had, rather than starting with the original tier again.

did you upgrade it and leave it at the bs

In response to YetiChow I lost my watering can when I was using a chest. I don't expect the game to notice I lost it.

In response to Cakeeater I have sprinklers but not enough for my whole farm so I would loose crops. (mainly some amarath that I need for a quest by Marnie about her cows or somethin')

ok i was think if you really didn`t want to restart. maybe you could edit your player save (i have messed with that for other games) and put one in.

Go and find the mod called cheat menu, it will allow you to give your self a replacement from an easy to use in game UI.

After you've replaced it finish the day so it saves then remove the mod and continue as normal

I've got everything under control now. :steamhappy: I'm still going to leave this disscusion open to talk about if Starter Items should be able to be bought at a low price. Does anybody else think it should be a thing?

yeah and then you can't get the starters in the mail

I think not, because it would be too easy to leave a tool at the BS for upgrading and then go buy one to use. Timing your tool upgrades is part of the challenge.

But that's just me.

The only tool that is crucial for timing an upgrade is the watercan, because crops don't survive 2 days without watering. All other tools are less crucial if you don't have them for 2 days. So I wouldn't call that a challenge.

Though I find it strange that you can buy coops and other upgrades to be build on your farm but nope we don't sell the basic tools at all. In other words I'm all for it to able to buy the basic tools again. And this should indeed replace the free replacement through mail.

You don't need to buy it back. The mayor come and give it back to you. He said he found it somewhere in the mountains or something and that he thought it belong to you. I remember if the tool get reset to level 1 or not but you will definitely get it back.

Umm crops wont die no matter how long you dont water. They just stop growing/producing, only thing that kills crops is season change.
