How is the mining farm so far?
Is it pretty good for Iridium?

I don't know if iridium nodes spawn there, I haven't otten taht far yet (mining level 6 right now)

It's basically the quarry by the mountain lake. Iridium CAN spawn there, but it's pretty rare.

It's pretty trash.

it's pretty useless. I got a couple of geodes from it early on but never found iridum on it. I'm in 2nd year and finished skull caverns so by now it would be too late anyway to spawn since I got plenty of access to it. It's usefulness is kinda like the quarry, close to none. I just like the farm layout though.

I just watched a youtube vid that confirmed that it sucks. He got to floor 400+ in skull cavern got 1300 iridium that run and then he bombed his quarry to reset it and it took him 2 seasons just to get 2 iridium rock to spawn in his quarry. The hill top quarry is as useless as the regular quarry. Far better to just go in the mines to get ores.

Here is the video if you want for source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbQbPq-Ozqo

The mining farm initially appealed to me the most as it seemed like it might be the most useful, but when I realized how it actually works this is exactly the impression I got: that its just a smaller, lamer version of the quarry which is already a smaller, lamer version of the mines. I think there are a lot of ways it could have been done differently, like having a little mountain you couldn't actually build on top of but it would have an actual mine inside it, maybe equivalent to the first 20-30 levels of the normal mines or maybe even one that scales to your mining level or your progress through the normal mines.

Getting the 2 iridium took a yer for it to spawn. From my own testing I am only averaging around 0.9 rocks per day. With stones the most common, then copper, geodes and iron, gold, Frozen and Magma geodes, Gem nodes, and finally Iridium last. In 10 Years and Mining 10 never saw a prismatic shard. Its just a tiny version of the quarry and that have never been good either.

It is so simple to make tons or ore, gems, and geodes from regulaor mining that the time spent walking to it is a huge waste. If you need materials just go mining. Its easy to get stacks of materials with a small investment.

I dont like any of the new maps since they have such huge limits of your farm layout and profit. The mining map could use a minecart hub to really make it compete with the base map by saving time. The forest farm needs the tree growth buff of the forest to make trees grow faster. The fishing map could also do with better fish available at the farm along with a better layout for trapping and possible harvesting spots for things like clams and shells. Monsters can appear on all maps with a toggle so the combat one is also kind of a drag as well.

I am on the Forest Farm with 3 Prismatic Shards. Bus still ain't ready though. Year 1 Winter 28 I found my third shard. I have NEVER been this lucky on the standard farm. I wondered if Hilltop would give me more.
Jeez, that sucks to hear. Thanks for the info everyone! Skipping that farm.
