Fruit Tree XP?

Simple question that i can't find the answer for anywhere. What xp type do you get from harvest fruit from fruit trees? I am asking cause I'm doing the Lumberjack/foraging challenge and was thinking about getting some fruit trees but I can't if they give farming XP when harvesting fruit.

I'm not certain, but I would guess farming. Since you have to plant them only on your farm and they are seasonal.

Yeah but you plant Spring/summer/fall forge crafted seeds on your farm and they give forging XP.

According to the wiki it's an Artisan item, and it gets its bonuses from the farming side of life (Tiller and Artisan profession). Maple Syrup, Oak Resin, and Pine Tar are also Artisan goods that come from trees, but work off the foraging line. It's your call, but I say it's just another kind of tree to work with.

What is the point of the Lumberjack/foraging challenge? I know that the challenge means you are not supposed to farm or fish at all and you are supposed to make money by cutting wood and foraging. But what is the goal? Not much of a challenge to take a large handicap and not have a goal set.

I am not seeing anything in the game for getting XP from fruit trees any more since it changed in 1.07. It used to be farming when you grabbed the fruit from the tree before, but now it falls when you shake it to allow for multiple fruit a day in later years.

Its mainly just a set of goals for no reason they forcing yourself to play a non-optimal style for no other reason then Role-Playing. Minecraft is the same.

Killed the Ender Dragon, then what.
Resource Farms, then what.
Max Tier Gear, then what.
Awesome Base, then what.

Community Center, then what.
Marriage and Kids, then what.
Max Tier Gear, then what.
Awesome Farm, then what.

If I want to build a giant sand castle in Minecraft I can, or if I want a huge honey farm I just play how I feel like.

The over all goal is to make 1,000,000 gold in a year's time using only forging. There are a few other rules. I'll link the post from the Off forums.
