Launching the SMAPI from Steam
Like advised online, I used "C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\StardewValley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command%
To have Steam use SMAPI instead of the Stardew Valley exe to launch the game, but for some reason, it won't work. The path is right and I can launch the game from the SMAPI exe too, but it won't work in steam... I miss the overlay though ;u; How to fix this?

I had this problem, and this is what worked for me: go to the file in steam (as in stardew valley) and shift+right click the "StardewModdingAPI.exe" you should see an option to 'copy as path'. do that and paste it into the thing in settings. it should work

the StardewModdingAPI always shuts down the game when I press the P to pull it up. Anyone else with that problem?

MissMuzzy do you use any mods? Maybe it's a incompatible with the latest version. If I remember the cheat mod uses p for the cheatmenue.

the ingame cheat menu works fine on my brother's computer but not on mine. I don't know why that is but yeah maybe the latest update just won't work on mine. The old version worked fine. Weird.

All you have to do is make a shortcut for Stardew Modding API and go into steam choose "Add non-steam game"...

OK, I'll try to explain this as detailed as possible. Find steam in program files or wherever you have it. Go to steamapps, then common, then stardew valley. There should be something that says "stardewmoddingAPI.exe' or something similar. You have to click shift, hold it, and then right click on that. It should pull up a window and you need to click 'copy as path' then go to your settings and put that in.

This isn't working for me either. And no I wasn't confused by your instructions, it just doesn't seem to be working for some reason. If anyone knows of another solution please share.

Ugh okay I needed to exit steam and restart it in order for it to work.

Hey guys, I think after going through the same dilemma now myself, I've found the missing link here, because at the end of the path, you have to make sure there's a space, and then %command% that you have to enter. So in my instance, it's not just adding "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" but => "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" %command% including the crucial %command% at the end - then it works! Hope you're all good by now anyway! :)
