Game version mismatch error

I was trying to log on and play a multiplayer game with my brother, one that we have played together on for a while, and we continually got an error message telling us there was a version mismatch. We looked at our versions and he has 1.3.31 and I have 1.3.28. So I tried to force an update by verifying the game cache and uninstalling and reinstalling. Neither of these worked and I could not find any other suggestions. He is on Mac and I am on PC, there is nothing else that is different as far as I am aware.

Is anyone else having a similar issue, or had this issue in the past and solved it another way?

Maybe the server was made on an older version? So maybe one of you have to downgrade in order to play on the server again?

Are one of you on the beta channel, and the other not?

@Timmering The server was made a while back, but my version will not upgrade from 1.3.28 to 1.3.31.

@Nerva We are both on the beta.
