Artifacts and save editing
Hello! I just want to point out before you judge me... I don't really want to be a cheater ok... but I have spent soooooo many seasons artifact hunting and it has lost all fun for me. I literally just neglect my farm. Every day I wake up get on my horse and run around everywhere and then hoe all the worms. Then with whatever time is left I fish with treasure bobber and magnet or I go to the mines and bomb the hell out of level 93 3-4 times. Despite all of this I am still missing 3 artifacts and my second ancient seed.

But in my travels I discovered something. Artifacts that will spawn from worms are determined at night before the save.

I found this out because there was a day I got an artifact that I needed and after weeks (in game) of searching and not getting a new one i was VERY EXCITED. But I discovered it after the museum closed. Like an idiot I decided to keep going and headed to the mines to farm level 93 and I accidently stayed up in the mines until 2:00am. (like a noob I know) I was holding too many things I needed like my galaxy sword and didn't want to lose them so I restarted the day. Totally 100% ready to lose the new artifact I found. But guess what. I got it again, in the exact same worm spot. So for science I restarted the day and got it for the 3rd time in the exact same worm tile.

So this means what artifact is going to spawn is actually a part of the save and should be able to be edited. I have tried reading through the tags and I have no idea what I am doing. Has anyone else come anywhere close to figuring this out? I need to be done with this. lol

Thanks!
-Tom

All you have to do is ctrl + f for the artifact you get from the worm spot, and then replace it with whatever artifact you want.

That didn't work. Just found a trilobite on the beach and I closed the game opened the save file and crtl F for trilobite didn't work.

You have to search for item ids, not the strings.

I can not seem to find a list of IDs anywhere. it would seem the people that did the work data mining the IDs don't exactly want to give it away. lol

This list should have pretty much everything:

ok thanks for all the information but I can't seem to figure this out lol

ok so I found the artifact spot that spawns the trilobite and there is another spot on the beach that spawns stones. The data in my save file shows them being identical. When I search for the ID of the trilobite I only find the one in the museum and the one showing in my collections menu. Anybody have any idea what data determines what spawns from an artifact spot?

This is exactly what I've been trying to figure out today. As best I can tell, it's determined by a certain function of the location, grid coordinates, and day.

I've found a "helper" site that works to predict where artifact spots can be found and their contents (https://stardew.djomp.co.uk/) and it seems generally accurate, but it's only good for v1.2, and current is v1.3. They're in the middle of updating it with new objects (seemingly including the palm fossil and the prehistoric tibia that I need) but it's an absolute bear to reverse-engineer the formulas they're using from the minified javascript on that page. Seems to literally create a new RNG seeded with (2000*X + Y + DaysPlayed + GameUID), then use that to check against what artifacts or objects it could possibly be until one succeeds. But it doesn't list those two objects (or the trilobite, for that matter) as having any valid locations, so it will never predict them!

If someone knows of a similar helper that works with v1.3, that would be useful!

I'm just going to mention a much easier way, that has no chance of messing up your game: The name glitch.

Find out what artifacts you're missing, then find out the item ID's for them. Go to marnie after making room in your coop or barn, then name your animals the ID numbers. For example: An ancient seed, prismatic shard, and a diamond would be [114][74][72]
I guess it's a bit late fore that, but might help other people too:
When you are looking for artifacts from worm spots just go around and check all locations first thing in the morning (as OP did), but if you found nothing you want just restart your day and skip it - afaik it will reset next morning so you can do it again, rinse and repeat. After restarting just do whatever you want - fish or go to the mines if you're focused on artifacts (or just tend to your farm). Restarting the day works for that too, imho, but since results here more RNG-based I would recommend it only if you don't want to waste in-game day.
And if you absolutely tired of all that - just use a name glitch as Eneicia said. I found this list easier to use for IDs: https://www.ign.com/wikis/stardew-valley/Item_Codes_for_Spawning_Cheat
