I've almost never used a club because I've never found one that isn't vastly weaker than my current sword, TBH >> But aren't they a lot slower? Now that you can get a galaxy club maybe I could try 'em.
Daggers are still terrible because you can only really fight one monster at a time; two or three and you're gonna get wrecked. They can do a lot of damage to -one- monster but it's not like there's any boss to worry about...
Well, in Stardew that last one isn't an option unfortunately, but the Slingshot comes close... and where many other players decry it as useless clutter, I keep that slingshot around for all those opportunities where it can change the dynamic of a fight; such as luring an enemy out from a pack or firing explosive ammo into a blocked chokepoint.
If I could only take one weapon though, it probably would be the club/hammer category. They can achieve crowd control with both attack types, and when properly timed the slam attack can set up punishing combos. With good timing, you don't miss the sword's blocking ability because every single attack is effectively a blocking attack; even the knockback-resistent enemies will be pushed back a little and there's plenty of time to swing, step back, swing again, and so on. As long as you don't back yourself into a corner, you can kite your way out of any fight.
My absolute favourite reason for using the club, though, is its ability to push enemies back into the range of a bomb I've placed -- that perfectly timed combo is a beautiful thing to behold
I think you can use daggers to cut down grass and weeds on your farm. The scythe or sword cover a large area and may chop your saplings down on accident but a dagger has pinpoint precision.
Never thought about using daggers for farming, lol.
