Pigs suddenly stopped working...

So I have a DB of pigs. They once found Truffles. At least until 2 days ago-in game. 12 pigs and they are collectively only giving me a total of 1 Trufle a day for the last 2 days. Normally I'd just chalk this up to bad luck. However, I've noticed I'm getting 5-7 void eggs a day per coop and I have 10 void chickens in one and 12 in the other. So... are some people noticing animals being broken or getting broken over time? Void chickens and pigs both should generally work everyday unless it was changed in 1.1. Yes I have grass/hay and they free range just fine with plenty of dirt (for the pigs).

Nevermind... I guess I should start closing the doors at night for the animals. I left them all inside for a day to 'reset' them and they started working. I started closing the doors everynight and so far so good. I still have one void chicken who is being stubborn but hopefully that fixes itself.

I had some chickens not lay eggs (2 chickens, 0 eggs) and the door was open... I don't remember this being a problem before... I thought they laid eggs daily regardless of happiness. I thought happiness just affected the size/quality.

it depends how happy they are how much they will prduce goods. if a chicken is sad or outside forced. it won't lay eggs.

@Tumalu Yes 1 pig will find 1 truffle per day they are outside. The only time a pig won't find a truffle is anytime they are inside the barn-raining and all of winter. With the right perks you can make somewhere around 20k off 1 DB of pigs per day except winter. A little more if you make them into truffle oil I guess. The foraging perks work on truffles so there's a chance you can pick up 2x as many truffles and all at iridium value with the final perk. This equates to about half a mil or so per season except winter accounting for rainy days. Call it 450k for a 'bad' season. It's not 'great' money but it's steady money for no more than is required. The problem with pigs is they are very tempremental and occasionally won't drop truffles if you're in the mines/cavern or generally otherwise off the farm. This makes the river farm useful since you can be on the farm and fish while your pigs are finding you truffles. Since they go back inside at 5pm you still have a little time to do some things off the farm. This basically means you have to save your mine/cavern time for winter though... if you want the maximum profit from pigs anyway. I just do whatever I plan on doing and still make probably 300-400k a season, it's a decent supplemental income for very little work... when they're working right lol.

Okay so I've noticed the problem. I've raised animals alot and there's something wrong. After a couple days my pigs suddenly all go 'sad' and stop finding truffles until I leave them in the barn for a day. The issue I'm having is that they are all 'really happy' at the end of the day when they go into the barn (even when they started at sad) and the next day they immediately become sad again. As soon as they eat some grass they become very happy from sad but they still won't find truffles, like it's locking in the sad at the beginning of the day for truffle finding purposes. If I leave them in the barn for a day and make them eat hay they come out the next day and work fine, sometimes a few days straight they'll be fine... then nothing until I reset them by leaving them in the barn. As I said I've raised lots of animals in the past so I'm 'doing it right' the pigs are just broken or I have a clash with a mod somewhere. I don't believe it's a mod issue but I suppose it could be something to do with the Cheats mod and the time freeze in buildings-though this wasn't an issue pre-1.1. Is nobody else having a similar issue with raising pigs? Because I'm about to sell them off and turn my barn into a keg factory.

I'm not sure if anyone is still having issues with this, but I was having the same problem recently. When I got my first pig it was very productive but also sort of penned in. I eventually moved some things around and brought down the fences so the pigs (I had gotten more at that point) could roam (the large center island on the river map). After doing that, I was lucky to get one truffle a day from four pigs. So, I tried penning them back in again, and now they are each finding multiple truffles a day.

My pen is from the left edge of the barn (space next to the door) to the right edge (white X next to animal door), extending only 3 fences down. There is a gate in the center of course, otherwise collecting truffles would be difficult. The pigs will dig up truffles within the small space they can walk in and outside the fence.

Also, works with freezing time as far as I can tell. Hope this helps anyone still having trouble.

I never resolved this issue after trying a few different fixes so I sold my pigs and made another keg factory. Kinda sad since I feel like I'm missing out on a part of the game by not raising animals. I hate cookie cutter type gaming and that's exactly what nothing but keg and perserve factories feels like.
