Fishing - Sturgeon is too fast
I looked up on the internet on where to find the Sturgeon fish even though I've been avoiding guides because I hate fishing. It lead me to Youtube and it turns out that the very fast fish in the Winter of Mountain Lake is the Sturgeon.

Any tips on how to catch it? I used an Iridium Rod + Lead Tackle (to prevent the bar from bouncing when it reaches top or bottom) with a fishing level that just got up to the point where I could use the Iridium Rod but I still have waaaay too much trouble catching the it :/

First of all, the height of the bar is defined by the fishing level, so having it as high as possible definitely makes it easier. You can even go past the 10 levels by eating food.

And beyond that it might be a good idea to learn to prevent the bouncing by stopping it manually right before it bounces off. That way you can use other tackles, which make it actually easier to catch the fish. I personally like the Trap Bobber most, since it allows for more mistakes at harder fishes.

And ultimately also don't underestimate the RNG factor. sometimes even the best players will loose a hard fish or at least take a long time and on other times the fish tends to be less aggressive and you might even be able to get it without any problem. So don't loose hope, just because it seems unwinable at times, since there will most likele be a chance for you at some point.

Try the CorkTackle or TrapTackle. Also buy or make food that gives buffs to Fishing. Willy sells some that gives a +1 to it.

there are also clothing items you can obtain to increase your fishing level.
But yes fishing is hard and drove me crazy too until I got really good at it.
There is a mod that makes fishing easy, if you are into using mods.

If you don't like the fishing minigame, I recommend using a mod.
Some will just skip the minigame and just catch the fish right away

Otherwise, torture yourself but at least, train your fishing skill up to 10 with easier fish + eat a +1/2/3/4 dish to help you.

I recommend https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/3623 it has a lot of options for people like me that just dont want to invest a lot of time into fishing without making everything an auto iridium fish.
Fishing minigame can be very rough

That's just how it is, some of the harder fishes are not easy to catch. I have played the game enough to the point where I am confident I can catch a sturgeon 99% of the time, but there are even harder ones out there.

So, either practice and get better at it, or if you just can't get good enough then use a mod to make it easier.

Also, Trap Bobber is basically the best one for the harder fish that make it impossible to follow them constantly and force you to chase them, you simply need more room for error with those and that's what Trap Bobber does, without it you will often time out right out the start because the meter runs out faster than it fills up, with the amount of time you'll be spending off the fish the Trap Bobber is essential. Lead tackle is not useful since you can prevent bouncing yourself if you reel the line just before it hits the bottom.

Thank you for the response. I used a Trap Bobber for the catch. It's still fast but it was at least humanly doable. I did it with level 6 fishing, but I'll keep in mind to try to level up my fishing a bit more for a larger bar.
