Crashing Upon Start Up
My friend and I were playing for a couple hours before she experienced this problem. It's been perfectly fine to play up until tonight. She opens steam, click play Stardew Valley, it pops up the window to load Stardew, then crashes.

I have searched google, youtube, twitter, and steam discussions for solutions and she has tried every one that was offered. She has uninstalled and reinstalled the game, downloaded the .NET 5.0 link, deleted the startup_preferences folder, switch the compatibility setting, verified the integrity of the game files, restarted her computer, updated drivers, and probably more that I'm forgetting to list. The game has not been fixed, it does the exact same thing.

Does anyone have any other recommendations? My game works perfectly fine and so does a couple of my other friends' games.

Might be something as simple as computer components/specs. Does she have enough RAM available? Having things open like Google Chrome can use up a ton of RAM (if I have Chrome open I am unable to start the game at all bc I have a bad laptop). Maybe something like that?

Considering we've been playing for almost 4 months with no problem, I don't think computer specs is the issue unfortunately.

Try clearing Steam Download Cache from top left Steam > Settings > Download and bottom "CLEAR DOWNLOAD CACHE"

Also do so for Steam > Settings > Web Browser and bottom two "DELETE WEB BROWSER CACHE" and "DELETE ALL BROWSER COOKIES".

Try disabling cloud save. Try running the game exes as Administrator. Try clearing your drives to have more space. Try giving high priority through task manager to the game. Try disabling cpu 0 from affinity, details again from task manager to the stardew valley exe. Try closing/disabling everything from the background. Turn off anti-virus and firewall completely. Use the high performance from power options. If you have nvidia, try adding stardew to nvidia control panels and make sure physics uses nvidia instead of integrated in the nvidia control panel.

Are you using mods? It could be a problem with SMAPI too.

Try reinstalling the GPU drivers with DDU in a clean safe way with the safe restart.
Try disabling "Read Only" from stardew valley folders from the steam stardew folders to document and appdata stardew folders.

Could be something to do with Windows system files being corrupt. Run CMD as administrator and type in DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. After reacing 100% try writing sfc /scannow. If there are no problems it will tell you. If there are and it fixes it nice. If there are problems and it cant fix it, google the reason and try to find a fix to it.

Im also having another kind of problem because of SMAPI with no fix seen anywhere but hope that one of these will help you out.

Thank you! Will definitely let my friend know to try this. Also, not using any mods, so nothing to do with that.
