The Flower Dance Festival
Hello. My question is regarding the Flower dance. I read that dancing with someone increases their friendship by 250 or by 1 heart. If I wish to increase friendship with as many characters as possible, Dancing with my spouse would waste those points, correct?

I am already married to one of the elligible villagers.

If I dance with another character, is there any other affect on relationships? Ie. spouse gets sad you didn't dance with them or the dance partner not getting the 250 points.

Yeah this sort of thing really screws up your relationship with your spouse. There's so many other ways you can build up friendship with other villagers quickly that dancing with someone other than a spouse really isn't worth the penalty. In general, once you are married, it can be problematic to give bouquets to other single characters which is basically asking them to be your boyfriend/girlfriend.

It isn't that big of a problem.
I am married and still giving out bouquets (along with the 10 heart scenes) and still have a 12 heart relationship with my spouse.
As long as you remember to gift your spouse every now and then you don't need to worry about them. Makes it even easier if you have a supply of thier favorite gifts as well.

I can confirm that dancing with someone else does *not* effect your spouse at all. There is absolutely zero penalty.

Only gifting can, but the penalty for that is very easy to recover from.

so basically once you have a spouse or husband you cannot give any gift to anyone without them getting jealous?

You can give gifts to anyone, but if you give a gift to marriage candidate, there is a *chance* that your spouse will get jealous. There's a bit of RNG there, unfortunately. Your spouse will *always* get jealous if you gift a bouquet to a marriage candidate. Your spouse will *not* get jealous over birthday gifts (or bulletin board quests).

So, if you want to go the slow route to avoid all chance of jealousy, give loved gifts on birthdays (friendship decay is not fast enough to lose all progress from a loved birthday gift, so while it may take a few years, you'll always be in profit just from this), dance at the Flower Dance, and take all bulletin board quests with their name on it.

However, if you don't mind risking jealousy, the only penalty is an angry chat and losing a heart or two. Since you can gift your spouse everyday, that penalty does not take long at all to recover (and to reassure your spouse). There's not much of a penalty, really.
