When I next think about playing, I just start a new farm.
I wish I could manage to push myself to keep playing through the end of at least Y3, but I've usually moved on long before then.
Though under the right circumstances, because of how much freedom you usually have by then, it can be at least fun to mess around with and experiment with the game in ways you couldn't do before if that's the sort of thing you enjoy. There's also not as much punishment for failed experiments late-game compared to the early-game, and any new discoveries you make can also be taken into heart on a fresh new save.
Yeah, the few times I past winter 3 was because I mostly sleep all days. This time I intent to sell all the livestock and let the greenhouse empty, so I can move to the island.
I've also been mixing up what type of farm I go for each playthrough to keep it interesting, rather than just doing the most profitable thing, so some games go slower than others. When I married Maru, I planted her a greenhouse full of strawberries and focused on jams. In other runs I've made coffee plantations or wineries. In my current run, I have a humongous apiary producing flavored honeys.
