Quartz isn't very useful, though. If you need Refined Quartz you can get it from junk.
Then you need Refined Quartz. Quartz is one way to get it but it's not the only way.
I usually get at least two dozen Quartz running through the Mines normally (initial 1 to 90 progression), and about the same amount of Refined Quarz by recycling junk. That's enough for 40+ Quality Sprinklers without any targeted farming, after which it's generally easy enough to convert to Iridium.
If you don't have access to Iridium or Krobus and you want more Quality Sprinklers, the Mines are really your best bet (unless you have tons of Crab Pots, which would be less time invested).
I wouldn't bother using Crystalariums if you only have two. It's just too slow and you'd be wasting a couple Diamonds. But if you really want to, I think you can simply put the Quartz in there and it'll replace the Diamonds. If not you can probably just pick up the device and put it back down, it won't be producing anything and will accept minerals again.
Recycling Machines are built from wood, stone and one bar of iron. They work very quickly so you only need two or three. They're also obtained very early in the game (Fishing level 4) so you should have unlocked them a long time ago.
If you put a Broken CD or Broken Glasses in a Recycling Machine, it will quickly turn into Refined Quartz.
Driftwood can also turn into Refined Quartz (sometimes two of them!) but it's much more rare. Other notable transformations: trash sometimes turns into Iron Ore and Soggy Newspaper rarely turns into Cloth.
Krobus sells one Iridium Sprinkler every Friday.
For the Skull Cavern, you need to bring 80+ Bombs and lots of berries as well as a dozen Staircases. Start early in the day, block Pam's way to make her go to the bus faster. In the Cavern, place Bomb in a good spot, eat berry to stop time and avoid damage, you'll get a bunch of Shafts (takes you 3 to 15 levels down) and you'll get to level 100+ where Iridium is far more common. Use staircases on levels that don't offer good bombing opportunities. Eating a Spicy Eel (increased luck and movement) helps a lot.
Also I'm grumpy and antisocial.
In any case, the community benefits more from discussions being public. It's all good.
No problem buddy, antisocialism is not good and helpful in my opinion but hey respecting other people's thought must be the one thing humankind should stick to in 21st century right? :P
