Equipment.
I found a boot or boots lol in the mine that gives 1 + defense and 1 + immunity, by keeping it in my hot bar automatically mean i am getting its benefits?? Or do i equip it somehow??

Also is the 'wooden sword' better then the default sword you get?? Since the default sword doesn't show how much dmg it does.....

You need to equip the boots, one of the settings lets you see your character pic, there's a slot there for a hat, two rings and a pair of boots. Press "E" and then click through the tabs, you'll see the one I mean.

Yes, the Wooden Sword is better than the Rusty Sword. Hover over them, it should give you the damage they do.

Yes, that. If you open up your backpack and look towards the bottem you will see a picture of yourself. To the left of it are slots that you can move the boots to and ta daaaa, they will be on your feet.

I'm fairly certain the rusty sword does show you how much damage it does, I think it's 1-3 or something, same as the scythe, but the rusty sword can also block by right-clicking. The forest sword is FAR better, unless there's another sword called the "wooden sword" I've never seen.

You can click and move boots and rings and hats to your character when you open your inventory by pressing E.

"Wooden Blade".

It's better than the Rusty Sword, but not as good as the Steel Smallsword from level 20, so I don't imagine many people bothered to buy it.

The only time I've ever bought a sword was the lava katana, and that was because I was doing a non-farming, mine-oriented run and I was having horrible luck getting a prismatic shard. Literally the day after I got the katana, I got 3 prismatic shards.

Random chance is funny like that.

Early in my first playthrough, I found a Prismatic Shard. I donated it to the museum.
Almost immediately after that I found another. I thought "Oh, it looks like these things aren't that uncommon" and sold it.

Then I saw the hint on the tombstone and realized I needed one more Shard.

Obviously it took nearly a year before I found it.
