Fish recommendations for first Fish Pond?

Which fish would you recommend to put on my first pond and why?

I usually start with Sturgeon because of the caviar, which I need for the last bundle to unlock the movie theater ^.^

id say strugeon or lava eel, both difficult to aquire but are probably best for starter fish

Sturgeon roe is the only roe you can turn into caviar but you can also on
occasion buy caviar from the Traveling Cart usually for around 2k :>

Lava eels can be caught in the mines on floor 100 and also at the top of the volcano dungeon on Ginger Island. So yeah, a bit of mining/dungeon crawling is required to reach
the destination where they are caught. And it's not an easy fish to catch either @.@

I usually go with the first rare/hard to catch fish I get. and yes sturgeon is a great choice.
If you plan on doing a lot of fishing, you will also want to eat meals that increase your fishing skill, so sardines will give you lots of DISH OF THE SEA, which increases your skill by +3.. so sardines are a good first choice to start as well.

Another one to consider is Super Cucumber if you hate skull cavern/mining.

i currently have 8 fish ponds on my new immersive farm. Good thing I have lots of room.

There's lots of good ones, depending what you want.

The blobfish is my favorite, because while its roe is valuable, it also gives warp totems and pearls sometimes.

Slimejack give tons of slime if you're a slime rancher. :D

Since you can always put new fish into the ponds, it doesn't really matter what you put in now. Check if you have any rare fish and throw that one into the pond until you find a "better" one.
I started with a super cucumber and a midnight squid, because I only had one of those.
