I have used it myself and it works really great! There is also a Stardew Valley Expanded version of it if you are using that particular mod :>
1. "Automate" mod. Set up giant rows of crab pots along the beach's pier and your own farm's shores (Riverlands or Beach preferably!) and your crab pots will be automatically emptied and rebaited every day.
2. spoiler: volcano dungeon reward Use the fishing rod enchantments. The Master enchantment is most people's go-to, as it makes fishing slightly easier and unlocks one or two unique cosmetics, but I'd recommend getting the Preserving enchantment so that your wild bait lasts longer. Speaking of...
3. Use wild bait. You get it from Linus and it gives roughly a 25% chance of giving 2 fish per catch. So in tandem with the previous tip, 100 wild bait would last for 150 fish, and give ~187 fish in 100 catches. (Assuming no trash...)
4. spoiler: walnut room reward Use the deconstructors on your tackle, if possible. Right before they break, toss them in there to get your metal bars back. This'll make crafting new tackles much easier.
5. Use the appropriate tackle. If at the Night Market, consider using the quality bobber to increase your catch from silver to gold star. Or consider using a curiosity lure to get less seaweed and more blobfish.
6. spoiler: volcano dungeon reward Get the Haymaker enchantment for a sword, even if it's not your primary sword. This'll give you more fiber for crafting wild bait whenever you clear out the sewers, or grind the low level mines for bug meat. This also gives some hay from cutting weeds, which will be beneficial for...
7. Don't JUST fish, but use your farm to boost your fishing. Get a barn full of sheep and use their wool to craft dressed spinners. Get some pigs and use the rain totems to catch rainy day fish, like catfish in Spring. Grow fiber plants to craft bait with. Build a slime hutch to gather slime for bait. Bug meat's the only one you'll have to gather yourself - the Burglar ring will boost how much meat bugs drop!
8. Use fish ponds for passive income. There's probably mods to make these better, but otherwise, just get a bunch of fish ponds clumped together then like once per season grab your fishing rod and empty them out. Alternatively, depending on the fish, keep their fish ponds maxed out. They should all hit 10 fish on the same day, then you can fish 1 out. Most fish have similar if not the same daily loot for 9 vs 10 fish, so if you can just go remove 1 lava eel from 20 ponds every 5 days, you'll get maximum income from them. The roe will age nicely for a profit, and the fish will sell for a good bit.
Basically, if you have your Automate mod handling all the crab pots, you tend to your fish ponds once a week, and you spend your other time fishing, you should be able to easily earn 150k per week from fishing. The actual values are iffy, and reduced quite a bit without the Automate mod, since crab pots are woefully not that great in the vanilla game. If you're JUST fishing, none of the extra stuff, you could probably make... 10k per day fishing, but would struggle to consistently get higher than that, unfortunately. It's a shame fishing falls so far behind later in the game.
If you would like a higher amount other than 300%, let me know :)
Thanks for the tips. I'm pretty far from some of these suggestions but I will keep them in mind.
Thank you very much for your mod. Pretty good mod I must say. I've found a bit of a problem tho. For some reason I'm stuck at 270% increased sell price. I swear I've scrolled down properly but that's the limit. I use the GMCM version.
Oh and yes. It would be nice to get an increase in sell price but I personally don't know how much more should it be increased. I have not reached late game so I have no idea how much money the other "professions" make.
well I don't fish unless I have a quest to do so, but in year for I have $74M, so you might call me a "professor".
You're very welcome :) And the limit to 270% is a known issue currently with the Generic Mod Config Menu mod. I'll be adjusting my mods to work around that in a future update. It'll basically just make 100% to 300% add up in 25's instead of 10's to make the list shorter.
A work around for you would be to do this:
In the Fishing Made Easy Suite mod folder, open the config.json file (with a text editor like Notepad). Where it says "Fish Sell Value", change the value next to it to "Increase by 300%".
That'll at least give you the current max if you're wanting that 300% increase :)
