Long answer, refer to wiki.
You can also find nodes that drop iridium when mined - the further down in the skull cave you go, the more likely it is to show up and the amount you'll find will increase as well. I actually managed to get very lucky once and even with the worst daily luck and no buffs, found a whole bunch of iridium nodes on the very first floor! I wish I took a screenshot of that to show you guys...
If you manage to please Grandpa and light all four candles on his shrine at the end of year 2, you can get a Statue of Perfection that will provide a slow but steady source of iridium ore (2-8 daily), though you may wish to combine that with other methods due to how slow it is.
You won't find much if any Iridium in the mines, the most likely levels would be 90 to the bottom, but no guarantees. Skull cavern is the best place I know to find it consistently.
you can sometimes obtain iridium ore from lava and omni geodes from levels 115-119 in the mine. To further enhance geode frequency, choose the Geologist Profession at mining level 5 and the Excavator Profession at mining level 10. (this is directly from wiki and personal experience).
